The Local Link: Brackley Kitchen Deli

Brackley’s High Street will always offer familiar faces, friendly hellos, and the independent businesses that give the town its heart.

This month, we had the absolute pleasure of popping into one of our newer (but already much-loved) neighbours: Brackley Kitchen Deli.

If you’ve walked past recently, chances are you’ve noticed people gathered inside — sharing tables, chatting over coffee or lunch, and enjoying the kind of relaxed, family-style atmosphere that instantly makes you want to step in. And once you do, you’re greeted by the delicious aroma of freshly baked focaccia, croissants, and pain au chocolate.

Opening its doors in July 2024, Brackley Kitchen Deli brings a true taste of Italy to the heart of our town.

Inside, you’ll find Italian pizzas served at lunchtime, fridges filled with olives, cheeses, and cured meats, a carefully chosen selection of Italian wines, fresh vegetables, and, if you’re lucky, even homemade lasagne waiting at the counter (something we’ve definitely spotted on a lunch break or two). And yes — there’s always room to mention the limoncello.

Behind the deli is Sarah, who has spent over 20 years working as a chef, and her husband Mark, whose passion for authentic Italian gelato adds another layer to the story.

Before opening the deli, the pair created the Brackley Kitchen Eatery Supper Club, built around a wood-fired pizza oven in their garden.

What started as a passion project quickly grew into something special, and they’re still running it today, with bookings now stretching up to six months in advance.

“Everything we sell here, we use there — the meats, cheeses, flour, and tomatoes. It’s all connected.”

The opportunity to open the deli came unexpectedly. When the unit became available, Sarah and Mark trusted their instincts and jumped at the chance — no lengthy business plans, no spreadsheets, just a shared love of good food and hospitality. It’s safe to say that decision has paid off.

Brackley Kitchen Deli has become more than just somewhere to grab lunch or pick up ingredients. It’s a place where people slow down, sit together, and enjoy good conversation  very much in the Italian spirit.

“It’s a very Italian mindset doors open, coffee on, conversation flowing.”
For many people choosing to live in Brackley, it’s businesses like this that make the town feel like home.

Independent, welcoming, and full of character, Brackley Kitchen Deli is a brilliant example of the community spirit that keeps our High Street thriving.

So next time you’re passing by, pop in, take a seat, and soak it all in  because when you support a local business, you’re supporting the heart of Brackley.
